      Round 7 - July 17
With just four rounds to go in the 2021 CalSpeed Super Series championship, a lot of eyes start to turn and look at the championship chase and
some of the usual suspects, but lately talk around the paddock has been the new faces snagging hardware. Round #7 would be no exception...
Alyssa Yauney showed once again why she is one of the absolute best on the Nuotivo circuit, claiming her first pole position of the season in qualifying, albeit her third time in a row in the bonus points on the .657-mile circuit. Joining her in the top starting spots for the first set of Heats would be fellow qualifying aces Andres Prieto in 2nd, and Sam Hunt in 3rd. Come the Heat races; however, and it would be three different names claiming the wins, with Masters Drivers, Diego Morales and Max Demoss bringing things home for the 40+ crowd, while Ironman winner from earlier in the day Chase Nickells picked off his second Heat win of the season. No driver would double up on the day, as the second round of Heats would go to Michael Hazlewood, the aforementioned Andres Prieto, and another first career heat win, this time out of John Rice...
Newcomer to CalSpeed, Zachary Houghton would lead the field away for the start of the first Main of the day, taking off from pole, and maintaining the top spot for the opening few laps of the C-Main. He’d be under pressure. From the get-go he’d feel the pressure from veteran CalSpeed racer Dmitry Korotkov, who was fresh off a very strong run in the IronMan early in the day. That pressure turned into a move for the lead on lap 5, and then slowly but surely, Dmitry would pull out an advantage that would see him unchallenged to the checkers, claiming the C-Main win and the transfer to the B-Main.
The B-Main would trade a convincing win, for a battle that went right down to the end; Denis Shakhovskii would be the pole sitter after a pair of top tens in the Heats, but would immediately come under fire from tone of the main protagonists in the Masters championship, Doug Yauney. It was Yauney to control for nearly the duration; however, he could never shake Shakhovskii nor Matt Steele from his tail. With two laps to go the attack came but from outside the top 3; Seth Willits had climbed his way into attack position, and would take over the top spot as they came to the white. On the final lap the battle continued, and when the dust settled it was Willits over Steele, with Yauney settling for 3rd.
On the back of a career best day in Round #6 where he scored his first podium, Max Demoss would lead the A-Main field of 30 drivers for Round #7, joining a P2 in Heat 2 with a win in Heat 1. That pole position would turn into a lead through the first couple of corners, and through the first few laps, but then the attack came from P2 starter and title contender Paulo Franca. Franca now led a train of five, with Demoss in second, followed by Andres Prieto, Evan Karp, and Michael
