      TRound 4 - April 23
he fourth round in the 2022 CalSpeed Super Series would take to the Classico CCW layout for the first of two times this year, and when the checkers finally fell on the day, it would be a
pair of usual suspects on the top two steps of the podium, joined by a brand new face to fill out the final step on the box for the first time...
Some people just click with a particular track, and all day long Ayrton Demoss showed again that he does exactly that with Classico CCW, starting with pole position in the green/white/checkered qualifying session. It was actually his first career pole position, beating out qualifying ace and reigning champ Samuel Hunt, and up and coming talent Donnie Clarke, the trio leading the field away for their respective heats. Of the three, only Demoss would score the win in his heats, actually doubling gup to claim pole position for the A-Main in the process. Joining him with heat wins for round #4 were Bill Kreig, Doug Yauney, Evan Lawrence, and Robby Stanovich...
Max Philips would lead the field away from the standing start of the C-Main, getting the first main of the day underway cleanly, only to get a little help out of the lead in the final corner before finishing lap one. That help would come from a mis-timed attempt from rising talent Paige Abraham, whose subsequent penalty would take her out of the running after a solid start from P2. Newcomer Jake Wolff would also take advantage of the situation, and find his way past Phillips the same lap Abraham ducked into the penalty box, keeping the pole sitter in the second spot once again. This time however, the pass was legal, and Wolff would not only hold onto the lead, he would pull away to a very convincing 7+ second gap when the checkers fell...
Michael Chen held lead-off duties for the second main of the day, with the B-main pole sitter bringing with him into the Esses Jacob Reis, Matthew Justmann, Connor Hicks, and more for the first time. It would be Justmann however as the driver to beat, working his way by Chen in quick succession, immediately coming to grips with his ride to gain a 2 second advantage in the open couple of circuits. This would prove important, as the rest of the field matched his pace after that, and actually slowly started to close in, with primary challengers Reis and Tiange Li giving chase. Time would be against them however, and Justmannn was able to stay mistake free to secure the B-Main win, which was actually his second B-Main win in a row...
After pole position and sweeping his heats with maximum bonus points, Ayrton Demoss looked primed to score his second win on the Classico CCW track layout, and after a strong start that saw him immediately jump out to a 1.3 second lead, the chances of a ‘perfect day’ looked even better. Behind him Samuel Hunt strove to battle back the advances of the rest of the A-Main onslaught, with Andres Prieto, Jose da Silva, Michael Hazlewood, Diego Morales and Donnie Clarke all in the immediate conversation. This advantage grew to 2 seconds with 5 laps in the books, but with 15 total on the docket, and his challengers finally settling down, the gap slowly started to decrease and by the start of lap 10, they were on him. Lap 10 would be an interesting one, as an attempt by Da Silva, followed by aggressive negotiations for real estate by Demoss led to the former leader full sideways out of the Hairpin, with contact from
